Attention HDX900 Owners - We have developed a variety of precise scene files for the
Panasonic HDX900 HD camera. They range from highly accurate color and contrast files
to warmer and softer film-like scenes. Scene files were created using a DCS Labs
ChromaDuMonde (CDM) Series CamAlign Chip Chart and adjusted with a waveform
and vectorscope. These scenes are far superior than the stock Panasonic setup
supplied with the camera. Files have been field tested and tweaked where necessary.
We urge you to experiment and test scenes prior to production using an accurate HD
monitor to view the differences of the various scenes if ordering multiple files. We offer
these files for sale to other HDX 900 owner/operators for $25.00 each in order to
recover a bit of the cost in authoring. When you purchase files, you will be re-directed
to Pay Pal. If you do not have a Pay Pal account, you can still purchase the scene files
securely using a credit card. You will receive text file(s) via email that you can copy to
an SD card which inserts into the side of the camera. Scene files are downloaded into
the camera from the SD card.  Discounts are given when multiple scene files are
purchased - see below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Standard HD Color and Contrast - Excellent scene for all around high
definition production when shooting HD video in either 1080i or 720p.
Much better color accuracy than the stock camera image. The image is
clean and crisp. This scene provides a uniform high definition standard
gamma curve, faithful color and contrast reproduction and can be used to
match other HD cameras. This scene is a broadcast standard for network
production.
Standard Film Gamma - Using the standard gamma curve from above, a
bit of black stretch is introduced for increased latitude in the blacks. The
knee point is lowered for better latitude in highlights and high level detail
clipping is introduced to reduce the video edge for a slightly softer film
look. This scene provides excellent color rendition and accuracy.
Gamma 1 Film - Using the camera's filmlike 1 gamma curve, this scene
file allows for even more latitude in highlights. The black is stretched a bit
more and the knee point is lowered for increased latitude in dark areas.
It more closely resembles the effect of film. The effect is further increased
when shooting in 30p or 24p modes. The scene provides faithful color
reproduction.
Gamma 2 Film - Using the camera's filmlike 2 gamma curve, this scene file
allows even more capability to handle highlights. This film look is
outstanding for higher contrast scenes such as outdoors on very sunny
days when the difference between the sun and deep shadows are extreme.
The scene provides faithful color reproduction. Shooting in 24p or 30p
enhances the film look even more.
Lower Contrast - Extremely effective scene file for lowering the contrast on
very sunny days, snowy landscapes, shooting against water that reflects
lots of sun light or in deep forest with bright sun streaming through. This
scene adds a fair amount of black stretch and a high gamma crossover
point.
Increase Contrast - Very effective scene file for increasing the contrast of
the image. Used when shooting in foggy, smoggy or hazy conditions, very
overcast days with no shadows, at dusk or dawn, or when a scene has
little difference between light and dark. The gamma crossover point is set
lower and black stretch is reduced.
True Color - This scene provides highly accurate and faithful color
reproduction based on standard color and chip charts. It has a bit deeper
color rendition in the blues and greens over the Standard HD Color and
Contrast scene above. Luminance is setup for accurate contrast for both black
and white  luminance levels. Sharpness is set for HD reproduction standards.
This scene is crisp and clean and the most accurate in color reproduction.
Backlit Scene - Very effective for shooting performers in a spotlight or
images where lighting is concentrated in the center of the scene. Manual
knee setting is adjusted 80 IRE. When using this scene, auto knee on the
camera must be set manual for this scene to work. Zebra setting are set to
75 and 80 for this file.

Standard HD Warm - A scene designed to deliver a bit warmer look. An
excellent scene for shooting interviews or when producers ask for a warmer
look. The image is clean and crisp and looks great when shooting standard
HD in 720p or 1080i. This scene provides a uniform high definition standard
gamma curve, slightly warmer color reproduction with normal contrast.
HD Cinema - This scene provides a very close approximation to film especially
when shot in 24p or 30p. Using a film gamma curve, black stretch is increased
slightly for more latitude in dark areas. The knee point is lowered for better
latitude in highlights. High level detail clipping is increased to reduce the video
edge and provide a softer film look. This scene provides excellent color
saturation, rendition and accuracy. Overall, it is an excellent cinema look.
